Gentle by nature, he struggled for a long time with one big challenge – emotional regulation. Panic attacks at the worst times, trouble focusing, tense muscles, and rides that ended in frustration rather than fulfillment.

Barry has been with me since my 18th birthday. I bought him when he was young and almost untrained. He has a heart of gold, but until recently, we faced a lot of serious issues.
Panic was his worst enemy. He’s a true teddy bear, even with kids, but during work, especially when asked for focus or effort, he would switch into "rebellion mode." Sometimes it felt like a battle for survival between us.

The early training was tough. I often left the arena in tears, feeling helpless. He’d invade my space, push into me, and despite all sorts of exercises, hours of training, and even relaxing massages – nothing helped.
He spooked at everything, even a passing car would send him into a frenzy. He was healthy physically, but mentally, he couldn't focus and would bolt under saddle.

After backing, we trained a lot. Then came a short break from riding – and when we resumed, the same issues came back: anxiety, hypersensitivity, fear in his eyes, and complete distraction.
